Party card

In July one of my clubs is having their monthly workshop and I always send my hostess handmade invitations to mail out to her friends and family. This particular club has been getting together for months and have made projects from a set of cards to an accordian album, a flip album and a card holder. It's an open club so there is no committment to attend each time and no penalty for missing a month, that kind of club works well for this group and we always have 8-10 girls show up. I'm always looking to start up new clubs so if you have some friends who would like to get together for a workshop on a monthly basis and they want to earn hostess rewards, let me know. I work in the Michiana area, Battle Creek, Grand Rapids and Saginaw/Holland areas in Michigan.

Here is the invitation I made for this month's party. I used our Majestic Blue paper because I wanted a real easy laid back look. Other supplies include: Desert Sand and Outdoor Denim ink, a sponge, a trimmer, a sanding block, a dry embossing tool, a corner rounder, the Tickled Pink stamp set, the August Stamp of the Month It's Your Day stamp set (not available til August), and Tombow adhesive.

Cut your pieces, desert sand cardstock 5 1/2" by 4 1/4", denim blue cardstock 2" by 4 1/4", patterned paper 5" by 4", blue patterned paper 5" by 1", desert sand 2" by 2" and one other piece of desert sand 2" by 1 1/2".

Now take the 5" by 4" patterned paper piece and the smallest desert sand piece and cut off the corners with a corner rounder.

Take the 5 1/2" by 4 1/4" piece and lay it on your trimmer. With your dry embossing tool, "draw" lines using the groove in the middle of your trimmer about every 1/4".

Now do the same with your outdoor denim piece but make the lines vertical.

Distress all the pieces with the outdoor denim ink and a sponge (if you like).

Take the 2" by 2" piece of desert sand cardstock and stamp a flower (Tickled Pink) on it in outdoor denim, stamp 1 or 2 centers on it to make a look you like. I used the small circle in desert sand first and then the little dotted center in outdoor denim.

From the It's Your Day set, use the word "party" and stamp in outdoor denim on the small desert sand piece.

Attach the 2" by 5 1/2" strip first, one inch from left side of the card. Put the patterned paper piece flush with the right hand side of the card and centered leaving about a 1/4" inch top and bottom. Put the blue strip 1/8" from the left hand side of the patterned piece and flush with the top of the card. Place your flower about 1 1/2" from the top of the card in the middle. Attach your "party" word on the left hand side of the card 1" from the bottom, 1/4" from the left hand side. Now cut yourself a card base 8 1/2" by 5 1/2" crease it and fold it in the middle.

Attach your card front to the card base always lining it up with the fold first cause it's much easier to trim any mistakes from the unfolded side, of course. There you go, it's done. I made 12 of these cards in about 2 hours, not too bad!
