Seriously?

Do you like Grey's Anatomy? I sure do and can't wait til it starts up again this month. One of the catch phrases on that show is how they say, "seriously," whenever they are in disbelief about something. Well, that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the new consultant's kit in the Close to my Heart spring catalog. Seriously, after seeing it, I can't imagine who wouldn't want to sign up. Did you know that you only have to do $300 in sales in THREE MONTHS? That's so easy that you could make it just on what you spend on scrapping supplies I bet! It's one party! I make my minimum in the first couple of weeks of each quarter from just one little show. The rest of the time, it's all gravy, as my dad always used to say.

Check out this picture, it's amazing at the amount of product you get for just $99 plus shipping and handling. You can see the list of what's in the kit here on pages 106-107: Great Opportunity! Seriously, why wouldn't you sign up in 2010?

Heartfelt Christmas

Has the Christmas spirit hit you yet? I'm not quite there but I will be pretty soon. I'm not a fan of winter or snow but I think my delay does have something to do with the fact that not a single snowflake has fallen yet.

One good thing about the upcoming bad weather is that it gives me an excuse to stay in and scrapbook or make cards because who wants to go out in that anyway, not me! The stamp set I'm showcasing today is called Heartfelt Christmas. Doesn't that just sound nice? This is one of my favorites of the Christmas sets we have this year and I just noticed it's on sale if you follow the link. Before I start this tutorial I wanted to remind you that Stampaganza ends on Monday. I have Black Friday specials going but you have to sign up for my newsletter to find out what they are (link to the right).

For this card you need Twitterpated paper cut like this:

8 1/2 by 5 1/2 card base, fold in half, attach card front to it once finished
5 1/2 by 4 1/4 sorbet cardstock
5 1/4 by 4 sorbet polka dot pattern paper
4 by 2 3/4 striped pattern paper
4 by 2 1/2 sorbet polka dot pattern paper
3 3/4 by 2 1/4 colonial white cardstock

Attach the large sorbet polka dot paper to the sorbet card front.

Glue down the striped paper one inch from the top of the card (held vertically).

Stamp the Christmas tree from the stamp set onto the colonial white cardstock in crystal blue, use a wiry brush to add sweet leaf specks all over and then glue to the polka dot mat.

Glue to card 1/4 inch from the left hand side and top of card. Use a glue pen on the garland on the Christmas tree and also the tree stand (or anywhere you want). Pour glitter on it and let dry for a few minutes. Stamp Merry Christmas from the Say It In Style stamp set with sweet leaf ink down at the bottom right of the card.

Dump the glitter off and attach to your card base. Isn't that pretty? Have fun at your Black Friday sales today!!

Help Wanted!

As you all know, Christmas and the months leading up to it, is the busiest retail season of the year. It is for Close to my Heart consultants too. In fact, I'm already completely booked up in September and October with home parties, clubs and workshops. I expect for November to be booked soon too. I will be making a bunch of extra Christmas money this year and my kids are going to have an awesome holiday because of that. Are you interested in the same thing, an incredible Christmas due to some extra income? What would an extra paycheck do to help make that happen? Well, guess what? I know a job that doesn't require a job interview or a suit. You don't have to turn in a resume and it's a job full of fun! Doesn't that sound appealing?

I love my job, I get to create scrapbooking and stamping projects and then share them with my friends and yours. On top of that, I get free products and cash!! Even better, I make my own schedule, work as much or as little as I want to and, at this time of the year especially, do very very well! I'd like you to have that chance too. I have an awesome team of eight great ladies who are as excited about this opportunity and these products as I am. It's easy to sell what you love. Close to my Heart makes it simple too, you don't even have to invent new projects to teach! They have tons of ideas with directions and exact measurements so no use telling me you aren't creative enough to do this. They also tell you how to throw a party, how to run a club, how to teach an incredible workshop and anything they don't tell you, I can. I am a very hands-on team leader and I will be there to support you every step of the way.

So, here's the thing, if you want to get over $325.00 worth of products for $99 (plus shipping and tax) and make some money for Christmas and have a lot of fun, call or email me and we can talk. This is the place for you!

P.S. Did I mention that you don't have to live anywhere near me to do this? Think about it, you never know what door leads to an adventure.

When you give of yourself

I was watching the Art and Soul episode on my website and Jeanette Lynton (the founder of Close to my Heart) called a card, "love in an envelope." Wow, isn't that a beautiful thought! I've had a lot of fun in the past few days making these cards from the Sweet Home paper and using the Wishes pattern book. Here's one using our brand new September stamp of the month. I can't believe it's truly almost September but I'm going with the flow.

Cut your paper like this:

12" by 6" card base - white works great but garnet would be cool too because it's going to show through
6" by 6" card front in Indian Corn Blue
6" by 3" garnet cardstock
5" by 1/2" blue patterned
3 1/2" by 2 1/2" blue polka dot
(2) 1 1/2" by 1" white cardstock
1 1/4" circle out of white cardstock
1 1/2" circle out of garnet cardstock

Distress everything with the Indian Corn Blue.

Take a dry embossing tool and turn your card front diagonally on your trimmer, press the tool down into the groove to make a line. Don't press too hard as you don't want to go through the paper. Continue making lines about a 1/2" apart then turn the paper the other way and do the same thing so that your paper will look like this. Sand the lines to make them show up.

Use a border punch to make a pretty border on your garnet paper. Dry emboss lines in your garnet strip about an inch apart and sand. Glue it down one inch from the left side. Now take a hole punch (size of your choice) and punch a hole in every diamond around the border as shown.

Glue the skinny blue pattern strip down a quarter inch from the left side of the garnet paper.

Attach the blue polka dot paper an eighth of an inch from the left of the blue patterned strip, 1 inch from the top of the card.

Using the big fluffy dandelion stamp from the September Treasures stamp, ink it up with Indian Corn Blue, then "stamp off" on a scrap piece of paper first, then stamp on your circle so it's a light application. Stamp the "when you give of yourself" stamp in the middle in garnet.

Glue the circle on the garnet circle then onto the card in the upper right corner of the blue polka dot paper. Stamp a small dandelion on each of the small white rectangles. Using your wiry sponge applicator, stamp the blue ink over and around the dandelions to subdue the white. Attach them under the circle, centered.

Put four brads down the left side of the garnet paper about once inch apart, and 1 1/2" from the bottom and the top of the card. Glue card front to card base, the dots will let the base color show through. Hope you'll give of yourself today and send out a beautiful card to someone you love.

A Place to Belong

When I became a stay at home mom about 12 years ago I suddenly understood why there was a women's rights revolution in the 1960's. Something happened to me that I think might have happened to other women who made the choice to stay home. I felt like I was a wife and mother, period. My days consisted of the same duties over and over, the laundry, the dishes, the never ending cleaning. I wanted to be there with my children but it sure wasn't easy.

I really seemed to lose my identity. What happened to that girl who was so quick with a joke, the one who loved hanging out with her friends, who created beautiful cross stitch pieces and wasn't afraid to drive across the country alone? At some points I felt I'd never find her again.

After giving birth to my third child I discovered scrapbooking. I found that there was a whole community out there that revolved around creating memory books. It was the equivalent of the old quilting bees and when I was out with these scrapbooking women, I was myself again. I felt talented again, I was creating these pages that I was proud of, I was even being published in magazines. I discovered I was a person separate from the wife and mother roles I'd taken on.

Now I'm not saying I don't enjoy being a wife and mother, I do, but I like me too. I didn't want to lose myself in the process of having a family. Scrapbooking allowed me to find a place where I was again just me.

Last Saturday I won the Rising Star award from Close to my Heart. When my name was announced I could hear all my fellow consultants and friends scream for me. I cannot tell you what a wonderful thing that was to experience. They are so much a part of me winning that award, I learned from each one of them and only stood because they lifted me up. There is not a better bunch of women than the ones I've met since starting with Close to my Heart. They are supportive and fun and will pick you up when you are at your lowest or celebrate with you when you're on a high. They are a safe place to fall.

This company brings out the best in all of us and I know it could do the same for you. I want you to join this incredible group of crafters and become a part of our team. I want to give you a place to belong just like the one I've found, a place where you can be yourself and better yourself. This company can change your life. That's an amazing statement but I promise you I believe it with all my heart. Are you ready to find your place? Contact me and I'll show you how.
